I ordered the teriyaki chicken (large) the other day, and it was amazing. The chicken was fresh, seasoned just right, and there was plenty of white rice to go with it. Keep in mind, the large doesn't come with the extras, like an egg roll or salad. You want the bento for those. (I didn't want them) It was so good, even my cat was mooching off of me, and she hates human food. The cost wasn't bad either. I paid $9.58 after tax. I didn't have cash on me at the time, and paid with my card. I expected to be able to write in a tip, but there wasn't a line on the receipt to do so.

I came back today and ordered the same thing. Once again, the food is phenomenal. They're very consistent it seems.

This is what I really want to point out though. I brought some extra cash with me this time to put in their tip jar. I brought $6, but she absolutely wouldn't have me giving her that much! I tired to persuade her, but she'd only accept $1! This modesty shows me they make this food because they have a passion for it, and not for the money! That's why it's so good. She made me promise I'd be back, and that's a promise I can keep! (Although next time I'll try to tip when she's not looking! Lol)

I've been going here for years but it seems as if it's been going downhill a bit the past few times we've been there.

I've always liked the House Chicken although this time I opted for the Shrimp Yakisoba which was tasty.

My wife ordered the shumai and it didn't look or taste like any shumai we've had before, it just looks like a fried meatball.  Didn't really like it.

The taste of most things I've had here has been pretty good but my main complaint lately is that you get a lot of rice and not enough of the entree.

The teriyaki chicken isn't that flavorful because they don't put enough teriyaki sauce on there. The sauce is good but the parts that don't get it are dry.

I also don't like that they added a lot of ice to the fountain drinks (at least they did today) and then charge you for refills, and they also charge you for extra teriyaki sauce, when they don't put enough on upfront.

I always try to support the Mom and Pop shops that are trying to compete with the chains of the world but to do so they should give you free refills and teriyaki sauce, especially when the last few times I've been there it hasn't been very busy at all.

Depending on what you get the food is 3 to 5 stars, but the value due to the things above earns a 3 from me.

Food was disappointing :( sorry teriyaki chicken didn't have much flavor.
Shinar which is typically. Steamed dumplings was basically a friend meat ball....meat was flavorful though.
Egg drop soup tasted a little like paper?
Chicken salad could use a dressing on the side.
Tappan beef bento included Teri chicken and the beef....that was probably the best one of the dishes we ordered, though could have had more beef.
Yakisoba chicken bowl was little over cooked but the chicken was flavorful.

Looking for a delicious lunch in Mesa from a local business? Look no further than Teriyaki Kitchen! I tried their popular teriyaki chicken and it was amazing. I love spicy food so I added a spoonful of chile too. I highly recommend this place!
